Apple’s 27-Inch iMac with Retina 5K Display is Here

During their October 16 media event, Apple unveiled the newest addition to their most popular device after the iPhone, the iPad. The iPad Air 2 was the star of the show, as was the new iPad Mini 3. There were rumors that Apple wouldn’t launch the Mini this year and that they would wait until next year to do it. Well, it appears that those rumors were wrong and now we have a new iPad Mini 3 with a new cool Touch ID fingerprint sensor and one iPad Air 2. But nobody expected more from Apple during their October 16 media event. Surely, not the iMac with Retina 5k display.

Apple shocked and delighted their public when it presented a new iMac with the most advanced display of any other device on the market. The iMac with Retina 5k display is truly stunning and in today’s article we’re going to take a look at some of its key features.

What makes the new 27-inch iMac with Retina 5k display is its never-before-seen, state-of-the-art display, naturally. The new iMac has four times as many pixels as the classic iMac display has. It also has an amazing number of pixels: 14.7 million, while keeping the energy consumption at a minimum. The display is bright, crisp and the image quality is something that Apple users and tech users, in general, haven’t seen before.

The new 27-inch iMac with Retina 5k display packs all the groundbreaking technology inside a 5mm thin design, which in itself, is quite a feat.

Apple had this to say about the display of the new 27-inch iMac with Retina 5k display:

To engineer the world’s first iMac with a Retina 5K display, we had to rethink every component. And with 23 layers that make up the 1.4‑mm display panel assembly alone, it’s innovation too small to see with the naked eye. But it takes only one look to appreciate. While we were at it, we made advancements to improve not only the resolution but also the quality of the entire iMac display. So in addition to the incredible detail, now you’ll see blacker blacks, more vibrant colors, and images that practically jump off the screen.

The new 27-inch iMac with Retina 5k display is also energy efficient and environmentally friendly. It uses only 1.2 watts of electricity while in sleep mode and is free of many of the harmful toxins which are ever so present in today’s electronic devices; the iMac with Retina 5k display has no mercury, PVC, arsenic or BFRs in its composition. Apple says that the base of their new iMac is made from 30% recycled aluminum and the speaker enclosure is made with 30% recycled plastic. The iMac with Retina 5k display has an ENERGY STAR 6.1 qualification and the highest rating of Gold from EPEAT.

The new 27-inch iMac with Retina 5k display comes preloaded with the new operating system from Apple, the OS X Yosemite. It was launched on the same day the iMac and the iPads were, on October 16. Its creators say that it was designed to be intuitive and easy to use, which, if you’ve ever owned a Mac, you’ll see that the statement can be quite accurate.

Apple puts their apps in every Mac they make and the new 27-inch iMac with Retina 5k display makes no exception. You get iPhoto, Pages, Numbers, Keynote, GarageBand and iMovie so that you can just plug it in and start playing or working.

The new 27-inch iMac with Retina 5k display starts at a whopping $2499. Are you going to buy it?
