It has only been a few months since Apple released the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. The rumors have already started about the next iPhone generation and what these iterations will hold for us. Most likely, Apple will continue its trend set in 2014 and will release the 2015 iPhone in two different sizes. One will come in a smaller (or regular size) and one in a larger, phablet style. This raises a big question: What exactly should we expect from the iPhone 6s features and specifications?
The New iPhone 6S Features
For now, it is not obvious what the name of the 2015 iPhones will sound like, but it could be possible that Apple will remain to its long running “S” naming method(which has started in 2009), meaning the iPhones that will be released in 2015, could be named the iPhone 6s and the iPhone 6s Plus. But this is just an assumption, as no one knows for sure. Who knows, maybe this will be the year Apple will release a new name format.
When it comes to specific details regarding the future generation of iPhone, the information is yet poor, but taking into consideration that this is the year of releasing an “S” and when thinking about the fact the new design of the iPhone came with the iPhone 6; it is more likely that Apple will focus more on the internal and hardware development rather than its exterior aspect.
However, the next iPhone may come with a slight change. There has been rumoured that Apple might add a new colour option to the phones prepared for 2015, and that color is pink.
Past versions of “S” iPhones, have came up with upgrades, which included features like Siri, advanced processors, Touch ID, and improved cameras. By analyzing these past updates, there is space to assume that the 2015 iPhones, will at the very least come with a brand new more powerful A9 processor created by Samsung that would improve the entire performance of the device (along with an improved camera).
Another thing that has been rumored, was that the iPhone 6s could come with Apple’s biggest camera development ever. It might be possible that Apple will create a two lens system, that will allow its iPhone camera to offer DSLR quality pictures, but there have been voices denying the rumor that Apple plans to launch a two lens system, and instead will remain faithful to its 8 mega pixel sensor, which was used for the previous iPhones.
Something else that might be happening, at least we hope to see it happen, is adding more RAM to the phones, if we look at the recently launched iPad Air 2 which came with 2GB of RAM from the previous 1 GB. Before the launch of iPhone 6, many thought that it will have 2GB of RAM, but to their disappointment that didn’t happen, and now the hopes have been put into the iPhone 6s.
The two upcoming iPhone 6S features will continue the pattern of classic features such as Touch ID support, 802.11ac Wi-Fi capacities, NFC for Apple Pay, and LTE Advanced. The Touch ID could also come with new improvements. Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo of KGI Securities, states that the iPhone 6s will own an upgraded version of Touch ID system, with minimized reading errors, that are meant to strengthen the Apple Pay experience.
Initial rumors have hinted that the iPhone 6 would have a potential sapphire display, but that did not happen due to production problems, but there already have been some clues, hinting that Apple will use sapphire a sapphire display for its next generation of phones, which will be produced by Foxconn.
What has also been talked about, is the fact that the iPhone 6s might have incorporated the Force Touch feature, which came first with the Apple Watch, and was created for the device to make the difference between a light tap and a harder tap, permitting new gestures.
It seems that slowly, Apple is adding Force Touch to its devices, and most recently, the company has released a 12 inch Retina MacBook and also an updated 13 inch Retina MacBook Pro, and both of them have trackpads with Force Tourch.
When it comes to the size of the future iPhones, an Asian supply chain, and also an analyst, have predicted that the phones might be featuring a new design in 2015, together with a new and bigger screen of 4.7 and 5.5 inches. What might happened is Apple will remove the iPhone 5c in 2015 and will continue to offer the iPhone 5S of 4 inches, together with the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus.
In January, a report has claimed that the 4 inch iPhone rumors were false, as there was no evidence of a new 4 inch phone in Apple’s chain supply.
